To Switch or not to Switch – That is the Question.

As I’m sure you are all aware, in the last few years the price of our utility bills has risen to a substantial amount. On average for the normal household, heating bills have doubled in price and the cost of electricity has increased by as much as 50% in some areas.

Experts in this industry are now saying that if you wish to save yourself some money then you should consider switching your energy providers now. In the last year alone some of the biggest and most well known energy providers have increased their energy prices two or three times. In hard times like these this can be very bad news for some customers.

By opting to switch providers now, you could save yourself as much as £250. There isn’t one company out there that can be deemed as ‘the cheapest’ company as energy prices will vary from region to region.

However, if you do decide to switch providers then you will have to make sure that your current energy bill is accurate. The way to find this out is very simple. By looking on your latest bill if the figure you are given has an ‘E’ marked next to it then that figure is simply an estimate. To get the real figure for your bill simply note down the number on your meter and then ring your energy provider with it. Your energy provider will then give you the correct figure.

There are now a number of comparison companies on the internet that will be able to provide you with the best quotes in your area for your utilities. Some of the comparison companies will even help you throughout the switch. By choosing to do this you could save yourself a lot of money each year on your bills.

But remember, in some cases you will not have to switch. You may already be on the best deal you can get for your area and so if you do decide to switch then you should make sure you are getting a better deal in the long term than you are now, if not you could end up paying a lot more.

If you are struggling with your utilities bills, why not use a comparison site to see if you can get cheaper gas and electricity quotes in your area.
